PROGRAM
A cross between freeriding and ski mountaineering, this splendid route bring us up close to the majestic peaks of the Monte Rosa massif.
GROUP DEPARTURES
Meeting point: Cervinia cable car ticket office at 8:30 a.m.
To reach the Breithorn, we will take the cable car from Cervinia. Then with a long traverse on the Verra glacier, using the skins, we get to the Porta Nera (3,734 m), the peak between Pollux (4,091 m) and Roccia Nera (4,106 m).
It is here that our descent really begins, first with a traverse to the magnificent slopes of the Schwarzegletscher, which will see us pick our way through seracs and crevasses as we break the surface of the pristine snow with sweeping curves. Having reached the edge of the Schwarzegletscher, we will move on to the Gorner Glacier, which ends with a narrow and characteristic passage through rocks and a frozen stream. A gentle downward slope will then lead us back in the direction of the slopes, leading to Furi where we can take the cable car back to the Klein Matterhorn and then to Cervinia.
