PROGRAM
The Aiguilles des Marbrées are located between the Col du Géant and the Col de Rochefort. They consist of two peaks (south and north) joined by a jagged ridge of snow and rocks. The northern peak is a fun introductory route, suitable even for beginners: its gap, progress and accessibility make it easy to complete in in one day. The ascent, in a spectacular setting between Mont Blanc and the Dent du Géant, offers breathtaking views over the Géant Glacier’s vast expanse and the Aiguilles de Chamonix.
GROUP DEPARTURES
Difference in altitude: 320 m
Time ascent/descent: 4-6 hours
Meeting point: meeting at 8:00 at Skyway terminus for equipment check and a short briefing.
We’ll take the Skyway cable car from Courmayeur to Pointe Helbronner. We’ll put on our crampons and head towards the Dent du Géant, then we turn towards Col du Rochefort, where we climb the jagged crest and a number of easy and enjoyable climbing sections will take us up to the summit (3,541 m), which affords a very special view of Mont Blanc and Dent du Géant.
Leaving the summit, we’ll continue the traverse along the southern ridge, through climbing sections and small snowy crests, until we reach a pass that takes us to the glacier. From there it’s an easy walk to the Torino Hut, where we can toast to the marvellous experience and enjoy some wonderful food.
